The hilltop village of Chabrillan in Drôme is a medieval gem. Overlooking the plain, it is built around its listed Romanesque church and the remains of the castle. Stroll through its flower-lined streets!
The Roman church (11th - 12th centuries), classified as a historic monument in 1862, that stands below the ancient fortified enclosure of Chabrillan, keeps the laces going up to the centre : suspended at the rock, like stapled in the sky, it has all the defensive assets proper to the medieval period, of which lanes and terrasses today testify, around the erect pieces of the castle and his dungeon, and of Saint Julien church. It today plays with the melancholic charm of the marriage of the stone with the vegetal thanks to the botanic path “between scents and peonies”.
