Abbaye de Bodon
Description
Val-Bodon Abbey, founded in the early 17th century, is located on the Saint-Laurent plateau, 2 km from the village of Saint-May, and was one of the oldest abbeys in Gaul. Saracens, Lombards, Saxons and Hungarians all took their turn sacking it.
The Wars of Religion destroyed it completely. Only scattered ruins remain. The Saint-Marius chapel, in the former monks' refectory, is dedicated to Saint Marius, the first abbot of Bodon Abbey.
