Via Ferrata Saint Julien

With a lenght of 1 700m, the Via Ferrata of the mountain Saint Julien is one of Europe's most beautiful !

The Via ferrata du Saint Julien is one of the longest in Europe. 5 routes are available:

La Pitchouno ("the little one")
The perfect introductory route for children and adults alike. A varied course on rock that's not completely vertical, with footbridges, a small monkey bridge, beams and rope nets. Return by footpath.
Access : Parking Ravin de Rieuchaud
Approach walk: 2 minutes. From the parking lot, walk 250m down the road, the start is on the left.
Level: 2/6 - PD (not too difficult)
Length: 170m
Approx. time: 30 to 45 minutes
Minimum height required: 1m25
Exposure: East

La Nouvelle (2023)
Course for adults and teenagers. The circuit runs horizontally along the rock, with a few vertical sections that are not too difficult. At the end of the route, it is possible to continue on to La Testouriasso (difficult).
Access: Ravin de Rieuchaud parking lot
Approach walk: 5 minutes. From the parking lot, walk 250m down the road, then take the steep path up to the right. The start is at the end of the first bend. Return via the access path to La Testouriasso.
Level: 2+/6 - AD (fairly difficult)

Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour

La Testouriasso ("The Stubborn One")
Difficult route reserved for adults and teenagers. A sporty, aerial route with several vertical passages that challenge both legs and arms!
Access: Ravin de Rieuchaud parking lot
Approach walk: 15 minutes. From the parking lot, head back down the road for 250m, then take the steep path up to the right. Return the same way.
Level: 4/6 - D (difficult)

La Tihousso ("La Coriace")
For experienced adults and teenagers. A very aerial and playful circuit with many monkey bridges, Nepalese bridges, beams, suspended ladders and an optional zip line in the middle of the wall.
Access : Parking du Pin d'Aïs
Approach walk: 40 minutes. From the parking lot, take the track up to the top of the parking lot, following the GR signs. After a 30-minute walk, leave the GR and continue straight ahead on a path that approaches the rock. Return along the same path.
Level: 4/6 - D (difficult, with optional zip-line)

La Roumpo Quièu ("The Ass-breaker")
For experienced adults and teenagers. Very aerial and physical, it starts with a 40-metre vertical wall, then another one further on, followed by bridges and footbridges on the highest rock section. Optional: 20m slope.
Access: Font de Ladon parking lot
Approach walk: 25 minutes. From the parking lot, walk up the road for 200m, then take the steep path up to the left. Return the same way.
Level: 4+/6 - D+ (difficult+, with an optional TD+ passage)
Length: 440m
Time approx.: 2h to 2h30
Minimum height required: 1m55

Access is free and under everyone's responsibility.

Mandatory equipment: Helmet, harness with energy-absorbing Y-shaped lanyard and special carabiners.

Recommended equipment: gloves, sneakers or light hiking boots, sportswear, water, first-aid kit.

Safety precautions:
Choose an itinerary suited to your abilities. Take into account the time needed to complete it, and its athletic and vertiginous nature.
Check the weather forecast, and don't set off if the weather looks threatening.
Respect the minimum height requirements.
We recommend roped climbing for children and beginners.
