Accessible from Buis-les-Baronnies via the Col d'Ey, Rochebrune is a charming little village 13km from the lime capital. Leave the départementale 108 and take the départementale 528.
The road to Rochebrune winds through vineyards and cherry orchards.
There is a large parking lot at the entrance to the village.
Rochebrune is a small perched village, lost between wooded hills. Take a stroll along the cobbled streets, where you'll find restored houses with small gardens bordered by low dry-stone walls. The village has retained its authenticity. At the top of the hill, you can admire the tower of the 14th-century castle, the church and the breathtaking view over the Rieu Frais valley.
The commune takes its name from Roca, Rocha and Rupes Bruna, probably because of the color of the surrounding mountains or the grayish rocks on which the village is perched.
Since March 16, 1947, the ensemble of tower, castle and church has been protected by a supplement to the Inventaire des Monuments Historiques. This confirms the interest and beauty of the village, whose primary custodians are, of course, its inhabitants.
The terroir produces a wine that enjoys a good reputation. What's more, in 2014 the commune was awarded the "ville fleurie" label, with "one flower" from the Conseil national des villes et villages fleuris de France.
