Pommerol
The old village is privately owned (no access in July and August). The surrounding area is well worth a visit: the Pommerol Gorges feature a 1,500-meter-long succession of “penitents” and other astonishing rock formations.
A paradise at the foot of the giants:
Pommerol, once deserted and then restored in 1970, is a village with Provençal charm. Derived from “pommeraies,” apple orchards typical of the region, it is protected by a castle built in the Middle Ages, of which epigraphic remains still exist today. Nearby, stunning gorges seem to spring from our imagination. Carved by a stream, these towering cliffs—featuring caves and arches—are the result of the erosion of sandstone-rich limestone.
