A DELICATE BLEND OF TERROIR, DISCOVERY AND SPORT!
Located at the foot of Saint-Julien, a favorite playground for sports enthusiasts, Buis-les-Baronnies nestles in a hollow, surrounded by cliffs, olive trees, and apricot orchards.
Stroll through its charming streets to discover the market square with its arcades and the Dominican cloister. If rural heritage interests you, the surrounding villages, such as Pierrelongue with its perched church, will captivate you.
Sports lovers will be thrilled on Saint-Julien, which offers opportunities for hiking, climbing, and especially via ferrata.
Finally, one cannot talk about Buis-les-Baronnies without mentioning the linden trees and aromatic plants, some of the treasures of the Baronnies Provençales. To uncover their secrets, simply take a walk, explore local markets, or meet producers happy to share their knowledge and expertise.
Once upon a time in Buis-les-Baronnies and the perched villages…
Buis-les-Baronnies was the capital of the powerful Mévouillon lordship in the 13th century and was later attached to Dauphiné. A town of markets and jurists, it remained relatively prosperous until the French Revolution.
The Tourist Office of Buis-les-Baronnies, a gateway to the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park, is committed to a Destination of Excellence (DEX) approach, offering visitors high-quality service and exemplary tourist support. It provides all the information you need to explore the area, as well as the schedule of events and activities in the village.
The Baronnies en Drôme Provençale Community Tourist Office has been awarded the ‘Qualité Tourisme’ label by Atout France since 2 August 2023. It is now committed to a new dynamic of continuous improvement through the ‘Destination d'Excellence’ initiative, which aims to enhance the quality of the welcome and services offered to visitors.
The office also features a shop, where you can find a selection of local products, as well as maps and hiking guides to plan your outdoor adventures.
