In the 19th century, the inhabitants of Saint Julien-en-Vercors took their wheat down to Moulin Marquis for grinding. Since then, the forest in the large Bournillon cirque has grown considerably.

Leaving St. Julien en Vercors towards Porte du Diable, take the road behind the church, then left to the Ponson crossroads, from where you can reach Les Barons and Le Devet. The route continues through the woods until it comes to a rocky outcrop, which you cross in a few hairpin bends to reach Moulin Marquis on the left. From here, return to the Grotte des Gaulois and follow a few hairpin bends at the foot of the rocky ledge to reach the Porte du diable. Follow the scree to the bottom of the parte and return to the St Julien plateau. Here, a detour to the belvedere is in order: views of the cirque de Bournillon, very impressive (caution if the terrain is "greasy"); the return to St Julien en Vercors takes place for a good part in the undergrowth before reaching Ponson.
