Welcome to "Sous les toits", our unusual gîte in St Martin en Vercors.

Ideally located, you'll appreciate both the peace and quiet of this accommodation, set in the middle of meadows, and the convenience provided by the immediate proximity of the village, just 300m away. The village offers a wide range of services (bakery, grocery store, gas station, bar, restaurants, etc.) and local producers (cheeses, soaps, mushrooms, honey, vegetables, plants). Saint-Martin is also a strategic, central location for visiting the Vercors from every angle. At the gateway to the Hauts Plateaux du Vercors National Reserve, nestled in an open valley, suspended between the Gorges de la Bourne and the Grands Goulets, the Vercors and its roads take you to the Diois and Drôme valleys, the Grenoble basin, via Autrans, Villard de Lans and the Quatre Montagnes or the Royans.

Our gîte is an independent studio on the 2nd floor, recently converted in the attic of the stone building, half of whose lower parts we live in all year round. The shared central staircase leads from the gîte to the cellar, where you can store ski equipment and bicycles, for example.

A warm and comfortable space, the gîte can accommodate 4 to 6 people in a modular configuration, thanks to a range of sleeping options and various spaces located on or under the mezzanines. Ideal for a family or a group of friends, it comprises a main living room and 2 mezzanine "mountain corners" offering rest areas. Separated by a partition, they each have a door and are accessed by two wooden staircases (a little steep, mind you) from the main space. A 3rd space under the beams can be instantly converted into a sleeping area as required. The main living area features a full kitchenette and a living-dining room. This convivial space is complemented by a games room, a veritable "Ali Baba's hut" with a variety of games, into which only the youngest will be able to squeeze... The house is heated by a recently installed pellet stove.

Through the large roof windows, you'll enjoy views of the Roche Rousse and Vierge du Vercors rock faces, the Herbouilly forest and the outskirts of the village. For lovers of outdoor activities and active families, the surrounding area offers a plethora of possibilities: hiking, accompanied by donkeys or snowshoes, skiing, cycling, mountain biking, paragliding, caving, canyoning, climbing, fishing... Guilhem, the owner of the gîte, is an experienced climbing instructor, canyoning instructor and mountain guide. Don't hesitate to ask us for information, whatever your level, desires or aspirations.
