La Trompe

The first part takes you to the Musée de la Préhistoire, which houses a flint-cutting workshop found intact, just as it was 5000 years ago! The route alternates between singles, paths and a few short sections of road, crossing the Vassieux plateau from west to east. A sustained but short ascent takes you up to the "Raphaël Poirée" biathlon stadium. You then plunge into the Trompe forest on a pleasant trail, dotted with small steep sections and beautiful clearings, as far as the Pas du Souillet. At Fouletier, the track descends to the causse, and along the way you'll notice the ruins of my windmills and the little chapel of Saint Mamert.
