La Justillane
A family of farmers had sheltered resistance fighters before being denounced and shot. The private farm has now been restored. The descent follows a cliffside path, winding between low walls and the ancient ruins of the "Gerlin" site, with fine views over the village of Sainte-Euphémie, which can be visited on the return journey. Departure: Arriving at Sainte-Euphémie-sur-Ouvèze from Buis-les-Baronnies on the D546, take the right-hand road at the entrance to the village downhill towards the town hall. After a bridge, park in the large parking lot on the right, Place du Petit Portail (540m). 1. Take the road to the left, cross the bridge and follow the Chemin de la Condamine. Return to the D546 and turn right for 20m, then left at the signpost, following signs for Justillane. This is the Chemin de Vance. 2. At the intersection, turn left onto Marobre and Les Buissières. 3. After 200 m, leave the road to take a track to the right. Always stay on the main track. 4. At the fork in the road (alt. 638m on IGN), leave the track and continue straight ahead, passing a field. Leaving the field after 100m, you'll find a path in the oak grove. Continue straight on westwards for 700m, then move out into the open. 5. At a crossroads (alt 644m on IGN), turn right. 6. At the next crossroads (alt. 735m on IGN), continue straight ahead on the middle track. You'll pass the Justillane farm. 7. 900m further on, watch out for the start of a small path which descends to the right, leaving the track (follow the markings). Walk carefully along the edge of the cliff, enjoying the view of Sainte-Euphémie. 8. At a cairn, after 700m of descent, you come to a fork in the path. Take a hairpin left downhill. The path passes between low walls, near the Gerlin ruins. 9. Take the road to the left and return to the original junction. Follow the same route to the parking lot.
