Nathalie MAGNAN , painter born in 1965, lives and works in Drôme provençale. Self-taught, she will present her oil painting with a knife, her pencil drawings and her pastels, the fruit of many observations, drawings, a few courses and finally quite a few sketches. Between landscapes and figures, the figurative gradually gives way to the abstract.
Tubes, an easel, a well-thought-out sketch as the basis for a canvas, the choice of the dominant color, darkest first, and off you go. Instinct guides the knife, which gradually moves forward, touch by touch, to fill the white void, a skilful blend of the known and the unknown, the thoughtful and the improvised, between the two players, the mind and the hand. This skilful blend often takes hold, and a canvas is born.
