Grotte de la cheminée
It's an ideal cave for an underground "baptism" between light and shade, porch and shaft. Its chaotic course is embellished with pretty stalagmitic massifs and microgours, and ends on a small temporary pond.
It was first explored in 1893 by J. Delmas, then on May 25, 1900 by a team of four men: Decombaz, Pellerin, Bouzigues and Deya. At the time of its discovery, the cave was named grotte des fées, then grotte d'Herbouilly or grotte des cheminées. The grotte de la cheminée, whose ceiling is pierced by a large circular scialet (hence the name), ends in a small temporary underground lake, fed by rain and snow collected by the funnel. Numerous deer antlers have also been recovered, many bearing traces of Neolithic craftsmanship.
