A hilltop village, known for its ochre molasse, it is marked by its medieval past with the ruins of the castle of the Counts of Valentinois and its emblematic solitary bell tower from the 15th century.
The soft village of Grâne and its river Grenette, which drove four silk-throwing workshops, borrow their names to a healer and bearded Gallic divinity: Grannos, associated with thermal and mineral springs. Stone is given here pride a place by the cutters and builders until numerous centuries : extracted in a quarry that became a green theatre, at the summit of the village, the molasse constitutes the monumental bell tower dating from the 12th century, the remains of the castle and its towers, and many reemployed elements, to which the morning light gives golden hue.
