Baume Noire
A peaceful cliff with a superb view of Mont Ventoux and the Rhône Valley. It’s a beautiful spot where you can enjoy the afternoon sun while watching the vultures circle in the updrafts.
Magnificent setting overlooking the Propiac valley. Mostly slab climbing on fairly adherent limestone. Mailboxes, horizontal and vertical cracks mostly straightforward, some rock bulges sometimes plastered (pristine but difficult) at the top of some routes. Wind possible even when blowing from the north, as the pass is not far away.

Road access (7 km from Buis-les-Baronnies)
From Buis-les-Baronnies, take the D5 towards Nyons/Vaison-la-Romaine. 1.3km further on, turn right onto the D147 towards Beauvoisin. Follow this road for 3.7km. At the crossroads, take the D523 towards Les Jonchiers. 550m further on, turn right towards Les Brunots. Follow the "Escalade dans la Drôme" signs along a 3km carriageway and park at the foot of the site.
Approach (15/20 min)
From the parking lot, follow the track for 900m to a small clearing on your right. At this point, take a small staircase over the embankment and climb to the foot of the cliff in just a few minutes. The other, quicker but steeper option is to take the path that cuts straight across the axis of the cliff, starting just after the bend above the parking lot.
