LIME BLOSSOM FROM THE BARONNIES AND ROYANS-VERCORS:
The “honey tree” or linden tree offers its treats to bees from the beginning of June. Cultivated for its flower, lime blossom is used in infusions and recognised for its sedative properties.
ESSENTIAL OIL OF LAVENDER FROM HAUTE PROVENCE: in the 19th century, harvesting of wild lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia) was developed up-country in Provence to supply the perfume industry located around Grasse. Cultivation developed in the 1920’s. The AOC label was adopted in 1981 to distinguish this variety from the imported product and cloned lavenders. Four departments are included in the label, including the Drôme, the most prolific activity being situated in the Baronnies and the Diois. This appellation is reserved for the natural product obtained by steam distilling the lavender flowers. Used in perfumes, pharmaceutical products and aromatherapy.
